Somewhere between the lines of a psychological drama and a fantasy thriller, TALE 52, the first film by the 32 year old writer/producer and director Alexis Alexiou, is a bizarre tale about the end and the beginning of an affair.
The journey of TALE 52 after Toronto will continue to a constantly rising number of festivals including SITGES, Reykiavik IFF, Montreal (Nouveau Cinema), Warsaw IFF, Sao Paulo IFF, Stockholm IFF, to name just a few.
International sales of the film are handled by the Berlin-based company M-appeal (www.m-appeal.com, contact: berlinoffice@m-appeal.com).

ReplyDeleteTale 52 (Alexis Alexiou, Greece) [5]
Shortly after posting my capsule review on El Greco, a critic friend of mine sent me an email with the final line of the above review, with the subject line, "get ready to copy and paste." Tale 52 is a perfect example of what he was warning me about, since in and of itself it's a film that has no real business being in a festival, short of maybe San Jose Cinequest or some other mid-level slick-indie enclave. It's more of an advertisement for Alexiou than a film in and of itself.
